Have you got some basic technical canyoneering skills but want to increase the challenge? This is the class for you. You'll learn how to set up advanced rappels (redirected, long, into water), how to set your own rappel anchors, efficient ascension systems, escaping pot holes, and understanding 'ghosting' (leave no trace descents).

Description:

Some of the most beautiful and least crowded canyons are only safely accessible to those with some advanced canyoneering skills. In this class, you'll learn how to set up advanced rappels (redirected, long, into water), how to set your own rappel anchors, use efficient ascension systems, escape potholes, and understand 'ghosting' (leave no trace descents). UMA reserves the right to cancel or shorten the clinic if fewer than 2 participants register.

Level

Those with some canyoneering experience who have done at least one canyon involving multiple rappels and/or those who have taken our Introduction to Canyoneering Skills course.

Fitness: Fit able to easily hike 1 mile on variable, uneven terrain (at 7k-10k' elevation) from the trailhead to access the rock.
